Nature hike in Carmichael
An Effie Yeaw Nature Center naturalist hosts the first guided hike of the year from 10:30 a.m. to noon at 2850 San Lorenzo Way, Carmichael. The recommended arrival time is 10 a.m. Admission is free (donations are accepted), but there is a $5-per-car county park entrance fee. Go to www.sacnaturecenter.net for more information.
E-waste event at Roseville center
Residents can recycle e-waste for free from 9 a.m. to noon at the Roseville Utility Exploration Center, 1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd. E-waste such as televisions, electronics and a range of gadgets will be recycled by SIMS Recycling Solutions, which has a shredding facility in Roseville. SacAnime Winter 2016
Artists, fans, actors and others will fill the SacAnime Festival for the second of its three days at the Sacramento Convention Center, 1400 J St. There’ll be lots of cosplay, karaoke, workshops with artists and all manner of anime paraphernalia. The event runs from 8 a.m. to midnight and costs $40 per day. Visit www.sacanime.com for more information.

▪ On the first Saturday of every month, the Valley Hi-North Laguna Library hosts stories, songs and activities for families. After the stories, visitors are invited to take part in art projects, including making collages. Those who have any cards, calendars or wrapping paper the group can use are asked to bring them. Saturday’s event begins at 11 a.m. at the library, 7400 Imagination Parkway, Sacramento.
