Sacramento temperatures to warm up
A high pressure ridge moving inland will gradually warm up the Sacramento region in the coming days.
Saturday’s high temperature is expected to reach 55 degrees in downtown. By Wednesday, temperatures should hit 62 degrees. A storm system from the Canadian Arctic kept temperatures unusually frosty, resulting in Sacramento’s coldest New Year’s since 1991, according to the National Weather Service.
“That storm system didn’t have a lot of moisture but brought very cold air,” said Brooke Bingaman, a meteorologist with the weather service in Sacramento.
But the high pressure ridge moving into the region will likely lift temperatures by up to 10 degrees in the next week.
Here’s the seven-day forecast:
Saturday: Patchy fog before 10 a.m. Areas of frost before 10 a.m. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 55. Light and variable wind.
Saturday night: Patchy fog after 10 p.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 37. Light north northeast wind.
Sunday: Patchy fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 57. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Sunday night: Patchy fog after 10 p.m. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 40. Light north northwest wind.
Monday: Patchy fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 60. Light and variable wind.
Monday night: Patchy fog after 10 p.m. Otherwise, partly cloudy, with a low around 42.
Tuesday: Patchy fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 62.
Tuesday night: Patchy fog after 10 p.m. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 43.
Wednesday: Patchy fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 62.
Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47.
Thursday: A slight chance of rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 60.
Thursday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47.
Friday: Partly sunny, with a high near 60.
