A.M. Sacramento: Here’s what you need to know for Tuesday
Good morning. Here’s what you need to know today, Tuesday, January 6.
Warmish weather: Much is said about the weather, but very little is ever done about it, the old saying goes. That feeling could apply to the present situation in Northern California where dry weather continues during a period when snow and rain would be welcome. So, with abnormally high temperatures predicted for today under sunny skies, get out and enjoy the mild conditions. After all, what else can you do?
Antelope derailment: Union Pacific train cars derailed Monday evening in an Antelope train yard en route to Stockton. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials determined that there had been no spill of hazardous materials.
Folsom prison lawsuit: Alleging years of intense harassment and retaliation at New Folsom prison, Muslim correctional officer Elsiddig Elhindi has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the state Corrections Department.
Pizza party: Sure, kids love to eat pizza. But make pizza? Some Sacramento youngsters are getting the chance to knead dough and spread sauce at Pizza Rock – and get an education in nutrition.
Craig remembered: A memorial service for former Sacramento County Sheriff Glen Craig will be held Thursday at a Vineyard church.
Local sports: None scheduled.
