A man and his mother were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the shooting deaths of couple in Berry Creek, according to the Butte County Sheriff’s department.
Peter “Mike” Kroencke, 59, and his wife Olga, 56, were on their way to visit their son in the Berry Creek area on Dec. 19 when they were shot dead in their car on Galen Ridge Rd. GD Hendrix, 44, and his mother, Lotta Hendrix, 67, were arrested in connection with the killings after a search warrant served on their house at 310 Galen Ridge Rd. on Dec. 29 resulted in the discovery of an explosive device and firearms.
GD Hendrix, who was arrested the Canyon Creek Store on the Oro Quincy Highway, had an AK-47 semi-automatic assault rifle, a revolver, a hunting pistol, a dagger and brass knuckles at the time of his arrest, the department said. He was also charged with possession of methamphetamine.
Lotta Hendrix was arrested at a different location in Berry Creek Tuesday night.
