Today in Sacramento: Here’s what you need to know for Friday
‘Documented’ film at Sacramento State
As part of Sacramento State’s series of events about diversity, the university will host the movie “Documented.” The film focuses on Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas, who outed himself as an undocumented immigrant. The movie chronicles his journey to America from the Philippines, and his journey inward as he reconnects with his mother, whom he had not seen in 20 years. The screening is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University Union Ballroom and includes a panel discussion.
Super weather for the big game
It’s starting to look a lot like spring, although the official change of seasons won’t occur until late next month. The National Weather Service is predicting rain-free, warm days for a week. Super Bowl Sunday is forecast to have a high temperature of 67 degrees in Sacramento and at least 70 degrees in Santa Clara, the site of the big game.

A free showing of a documentary about Matthew Shepard, who has in death become emblematic of hate crimes, is from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Mesa Verde High School, 7501 Carriage Drive, Citrus Heights.
