‘Fill the Boot’ fundraiser begins

Firefighters from departments serving Sacramento and surrounding communities will participate in a four-day “Fill the Boot for Burns” fundraising drive at Sunrise Mall in Citrus Heights. The annual drive benefits the Firefighters Burn Institute. Beginning Thursday and continuing through Sunday, firefighters carrying boots will be soliciting donations at and around the mall. The drive will include a free Safety Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday outside the mall, weather permitting. Donations are used to improve burn treatment and to fund burn recovery programs. Green card workshop planned

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officers host a free workshop, “How to Get a Green Card,” from 6 to 8 p.m. at North Natomas Library, 4660 Via Ingoglia, Sacramento. Everyone is welcome, and no reservation is needed.

Delta board hosts two-day meeting

The Delta Independent Science Board holds a two-day meeting beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday in the second-floor conference room at Park Tower Plaza, 980 Ninth St., Sacramento. Among the topics to be considered is a letter recommending a broad modeling study about the effects of barriers and levee breaks on Delta-wide water quality.
