Carry-out store bags on Elk Grove agenda

The Elk Grove City Council will hear a staff report on carry-out store bags and exploring options before the city. About 115 ordinances exist in California, and most ban free plastic or paper bags at grocery stores, convenience and liquor stores, and pharmacies, the report says. The council could ask the staff to draft a proposed ordinance or wait to learn the outcome of a referendum on a statewide ban headed to the November ballot. The public meeting begins at 6 p.m. in council chambers, 8400 Laguna Palms Way.
