Stormy, wet weather on tap

In the Sacramento area, there will be a slight chance of rain in the morning, with rain increasing in the afternoon along with winds of 15 to 25 mph, and gusts of up to 35 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Rainfall from Saturday’s storm likely will be between a quarter- and a half-inch, the weather service forecasts.

Green day, parade in Old Sacramento

The 20th annual St. Patrick’s Day parade begins at 1 p.m. in Old Sacramento featuring marchers dressed in green, along with Irish and Highland dancers, pipe and drum bands, historic re-enactors and more. Nearly 1,000 marchers are expected to take part the the parade. Entertainment and children’s activities begin at 11 a.m. at the free event. Go to http://oldsacramento.com for more information.

Basketball fun at Valley High

A day of basketball takes place at the March Mack Madness 2016 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Valley High School gym, 6300 Ehrhardt Ave., Sacramento. Activities include a skills clinic, basketball game for elementary and middle school students and a high school game with Sacramento Police Department personnel. Harris Center open house

To commemorate the fifth anniversary of the Harris Center for the Arts, the community is invited to an open house from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the venue, 10 College Parkway, Folsom. STEM Night scheduled

A Community STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Night is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Aerospace Museum of California, 3200 Freedom Park Drive in McClellan Park. Hosted by Teach For America-California Capital Valley, the event features a science fair and hands-on science activities by students, including kindergartners from area public and charter schools.

Irish social at Sacramento bar-cafe

The recently renovated Limelight Bar & Cafe hosts a Sacramento Irish Social from noon to 8 p.m. inside the eatery at 1014 Alhambra Blvd., Sacramento, and in an adjacent parking lot.
