Mothers to take part in Oath of Allegiance

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will host a ceremony at the World Peace Garden in honor of Mother’s Day. The event begins at 10 a.m. on 15th Street, between L and N streets, in Sacramento. USCIS officer Patsy Johnson will administer the Oath of Allegiance to 15 local immigrants, all of whom are mothers. Kelsey Johnson, a member of the Sacramento County Council at Child Protective Services and president of the Sacramento County Management Association, a labor union, will give the keynote speech.

Global food trade forum in West Sacramento

West Sacramento presents a global food trade forum from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall Galleria, 1100 W. Capitol Ave. Mayor Christopher Cabaldon hosts the event and Luis Jimenez, counselor to the U.S. trade representative, will be the keynote speaker at noon. Executives from West Sacramento’s food industry hub, including Shinmei USA, Nippon Shokken USA and Raley’s, will attend.

Spring Fair in south Sacramento

The Mack Road Spring Fair kicks off a four-day run Thursday at 7789 La Mancha Way, Sacramento. Attendees can enjoy rides, games and food. Proceeds will benefit the ReImagine Mack Road Foundation that is aimed at abating crime and providing programs, and resources for the community. Event times are 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Breast cancer awareness event at CSUS

“Culture Shock,” hosted by Sigma Theta Psi Theta Chapter at California State University, Sacramento, is an event focusing on breast cancer and multicultural awareness. It takes place from 8 to 9:30 p.m. in the University Room at CSUS, 6000 J St. There will be inspirational speakers, breast cancer survivors and performers from various ethnic dance groups. Sigma Theta Psi Theta will collect funds for local women who are undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer.
