Budget talks to start for city of Sacramento
Sacramento City Manager John Shirey will present the fiscal year 2016-17 proposed budget to the City Council at Tuesday night’s meeting. The presentation will kick off about a month of discussions before the final budget is adopted June 14. Council members and the public will get a chance to comment on the proposal. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 915 I St, Sacramento.
San Juan school district could raise meal prices
A proposed 25-cent increase in the price of school meals is on trustees’ agenda in the San Juan Unified School District. The district’s Nutrition Services Department has incurred more than $1.5 million in deficit spending since 2013-14, according to a staff report. Those costs were covered through operating reserves. Trustees on Tuesday will discuss raising the price of student meals to help cover costs. The board’s open session starts at 6:30 p.m. at 3738 Walnut Ave., Carmichael.
Selena Gomez performs at Sleep Train Arena
Singer and actress Selena Gomez brings her tour to North Natomas on Tuesday. Gomez is touring 41 cities in North America following the October release of her album “Revival.” The lead single “Good for You” led the Top 40 radio charts for three weeks. Gomez, who has sold more than 22 million singles worldwide, appears at Sleep Train Arena, 1 Sports Parkway, Sacramento, at 7:30 p.m.
