Mass casualty exercise in Roseville
The city of Roseville advises area residents that firefighters and law enforcement officers from throughout Placer County will team up to practice and ensure preparedness for a mass casualty from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the area of PFE Road and Hilltop Circle in Roseville. City officials say a significant amount of activity could appear realistic, including a simulated train accident, a simulated hazardous materials spill, many accident “victims” made up to appear injured and helicopters taking people to hospitals. People are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.
Naturalization ceremony at auditorium
A naturalization ceremony hosted by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is scheduled at 10 a.m. at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium, 1515 J St. Admission is free. Doors open at 7:30 a.m..
City Council to meet
The Roseville City Council meets at 7 p.m. in council chambers, 311 Vernon St. Scheduled public hearings on the 2016 Community Development Block Grant Annual Action Plan and the city’s 2015 Urban Water Management Plan are on the agenda. Go to http://www.roseville.ca.us for more information.
Master plan discussed in West Sacramento
Residents are invited to attend a workshop to help update West Sacramento’s Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Trails Master Plan. The gathering is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at the West Sacramento Community Center Rivers Room, 1075 W. Capitol Ave. Attendees can join West Sacramento staff to review and provide feedback on bicycle and pedestrian projects throughout the city.
Things to do
▪ At Folsom’s City Works Day, residents can climb aboard a fire engine, sit in the driver’s seat of a garbage truck and more. The free event takes place from 9:30 a.m. to noon at City Lions Park (next to the Folsom Library), 403 Stafford St. City staff members will be stationed at each vehicle to teach the community about their profession and city services.
▪ The city of Elk Grove celebrates National Public Works Week by offering its fourth annual Big Truck Day, geared for those ages 2 to 6. Visitors can honk the horn on the bus, get behind the wheel of a semi-truck, build a castle in the sand and more. The free event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Calvine Pointe Shopping Center, Calvine and Elk Grove-Florin roads.
