Update: Eastbound I-80 traffic released near Baxter

The state Department of Transportation reports that eastbound Interstate 80 traffic that had been held up near Baxter has been released as of 9:30 p.m.

Chain controls are still in effect, according to Caltrans.

Westbound trucks on I-80 are being screened at Prosser Road Road in Truckee. Drivers must have maximum chains to proceed, Caltrans reports.

The National Weather Service reported that as of about 9 p.m., 13 inches of snow had fallen at Kingvale.
