Good morning. Here’s what you need to know today, Saturday, May 21:

Watch for rain

The National Weather Service forecasts a chance of showers for the Sacramento area, with thunderstorms also possible after 11a.m. The day should be mostly cloudy, with a high near 67 degrees and south southwest wind about 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms, are expected, according to the weather service. During the night, there is also a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 p.m.

Black Family Day at UCD

The 45th annual Black Family Day takes place from noon to 5 p.m. at the East and West quads at UC Davis, One Shields Ave. Planned activities include music, food, entertainment groups and vendors. Food trucks aplenty at Discovery Park

The annual SactoMoFo 9 food truck festival rolls into Discovery Park and features more than 40 of Sacramento and the Bay Area’s favorite trucks, live entertainment and more. The fest is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m at 221 Jibbom St., Sacramento. Proceeds from beer sales benefit the Front Street Animal Shelter. Entry is free. Parking is $10. Food and beverages are available for purchase.

Boot drive benefits burn institute

The Cosumnes Community Services District Fire Department hosts a fundraising drive from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the intersection of Bruceville Road and Laguna Boulevard in Elk Grove to aid the Firefighters Burn Institute. Proceeds will be used to assist burn survivors with treatment, rehabilitation, ongoing physical therapy costs and more.

Open house at downtown fire station

Station 1 of the Sacramento Fire Department hosts a free open house for residents from 2 to 4 p.m. at 624 Q St. Visitors can meet firefighters and medics, tour the station and take a close look at the trucks, engines, ambulances, equipment and gear.

Orchestra plays at food court

The Rancho Cordova Civic Light Orchestra performs from 4 to 6 p.m. at the KP International Market’s Food Court, 10971 Olson Drive, Rancho Cordova. The concert is free. Go to https://ranchocordovaciviclightorchestra.wildapricot.org for more information.

▪ For Saturday’s Preakness Stakes, Cal Expo is hosting a viewing party and buffet. Go to http://calexpo.com/calendar-events/ for more information. Doors to the satellite wagering facility opens at 7 a.m. and the buffet begins at 9 a.m. The Preakness race is scheduled at 3:43 p.m..
