Leaf claw pickup ending in Sacramento for season; junk pickup begins

This is the last week of leaf season, a time to pile leaves, branches, Christmas trees and other yard waste at curbside in the City of Sacramento.

Leaf season, a time when the motorized claw scoops up green waste in the street, ends on Saturday. After that date, clippings and leaves go in the wheeled yard waste can for pickup.

With the ending of leaf season, begins the pickup of household junk and e-waste collection. The separate programs can be requested by calling 311 or making an online request at www.sac311.

City residents may make two junk collection appointments each year from February through October for free pickup of bulky items such as furniture and carpet.

The e-waste pickup is new this year and also allows a city resident two appointments a year. E-waste pickup of items such as televisions, computers and refrigerators is conducted year-around.
