Hot weekend

The unseasonably hot weather will continue in the Sacramento area Saturday, with the high temperature expected to hit 99 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The temperature is expected to continue in the upper 90s through Monday, the weather service reports.

Pride Parade, Festival on Capitol Mall

The Pride Parade and Festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Capitol Mall Greens, 1300 Seventh St., Sacramento. The parade, which begins at 11 a.m., is free and travels toward the state Capitol along N Street between Third and 10th streets. The festival costs $10 per person (children 10 and younger are admitted free) and is on Capitol Mall between Third and Seventh streets. It features a dance pavilion, a children’s zone, arts and vendors. Go to www.sacramentopride.org for more information.

Open house at Fire Station 4

Station 4 of the Sacramento Fire Department hosts a free open house for residents from 2 to 4 p.m. at 3145 Granada Way in East Sacramento. Visitors can meet firefighters and medics, tour the station and take a close look at the trucks, engines, ambulances, equipment and gear. The event is part of the Fire Station Open House series.

Pops in the Park debuts

Sacramento City Councilman Jeff Harris hosts Pops in the Park, a free concert series in parks in the council’s District 3 area every Saturday in June. The first concert, featuring The Count, is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at East Portal Park, 51st and M streets. Concertgoers are asked not to bring canopies or umbrellas because they block people’s views. No outside alcohol is permitted. Go to http://eastsacpopsinthepark.com for more information.

Things to do

▪ The third annual Sacramento Taco Festival is planned from noon to 6:15 p.m. at 1500 Del Paso Blvd., Sacramento. Besides the tasty treats, the festival will have continuous entertainment, taco eating contests, Lucha libre (wrestling), and a chihuahua beauty contest hosted by the Sacramento SPCA.
