Today in Sacramento: Here’s what you need to know for Wednesday

SMUD-PG&E training event

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District alerts the public that a coordinated training event between SMUD and Pacific Gas and Electric Co. for emergency first-responders is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. at the Morrison Creek gas line cross-tie. Emergency personnel, vehicles and equipment will be present. A pre-meeting will take place at SMUD’s Central Valley Financing Authority Cogeneration Facility at 8580 Laguna Station Road, Elk Grove. SMUD and PG&E, along with local city and county public agencies, will conduct the event as part of emergency action plans for gas pipeline safety.

West Sacramento council meets

The West Sacramento City Council meets at 7 p.m. in council chambers, 1110 W. Capitol Ave., West Sacramento. Call 916-617-4500 for more information.

City Council meeting in Roseville

▪ The Reel Kids Summer Movie Series debuts at Tower Theatre, 2508 Land Park Drive. Every Wednesday and Thursday through Aug. 11, family films will be shown at 10 a.m. on the big screen. “How to Train Your Dragon 2” will be the first film shown Wednesday and Thursday. Admission is $1, and there are specials on concession items.

▪ An outdoor yoga series continues at 6 p.m. at Mather Golf Course, 4103 Zinfandel Drive, Rancho Cordova. Pilates Heartcore hosts the event. Registration is required at www.getheartcore.com.
