Record-breaking highs possible in Sacramento area on Saturday
Friday looks warm and sunny leading in to a weekend with increasing temperatures. Saturday has the potential for a record-breaking high near 71 in Sacramento, continuing a trend of near-record temperatures in the area the last couple days.
Super Bowl Sunday is forecast to also be warm, with a high near 63 and more clouds in the sky.
Far Northern California might be looking at some long-awaited rain on Monday or Tuesday, with Sacramento possibly getting its share in about a week.
Rainfall total for the season stands at 9.29 inches, which is 87 percent of normal.

Friday: Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 68. Light north northwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
Tonight: Clear, with a low around 46. North northwest wind around 10 mph.
Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 71. North northwest wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Saturday night: Patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 41. North northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Sunday: Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 63. Light south southeast wind.
Sunday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45.
Monday: Partly sunny, with a high near 62.
Monday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62.
