Mosquito treatments in western Placer

The Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District announced that a small area of western Placer County and Lincoln were scheduled to be treated for significant West Nile virus and mosquito activity from 3:45 to 5:30 a.m. Thursday. An EPA-approved treatment was to be applied in a fog to target adult mosquitoes. Areas scheduled to be treated are Critter Creek Road and West Knickerbocker Drive, south of Nicolaus Road and east of Brewer Road, on the outskirts of western Lincoln and western Placer County, north of Elverta, west of Brewer Road and south of Jackson Road. The treatments are scheduled to continue in agricultural areas in western Placer County through Saturday. Family bike night planned

A family bike night is planned from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Safetyville, USA, 3909 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. The gathering is designed to give families a safe place to ride their bikes together and learn basic bike safety rules. Participants are asked to be bring their bikes and helmets. A safety clinic is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Go to safetycenter.org for more information.

Band performs at zoo

Element Brass Band performs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the Reptile House Lawn at the Sacramento Zoo, 3930 W. Land Park Drive, as part of its Twilight Thursdays series. Dinner specials, local craft beer and wine will be available for purchase. Go to www.saczoo.org for more information.
