Good morning. Here’s what you need to know today:

January heat: Today has the potential for a record-breaking high near 71 in Sacramento, continuing a trend of near-record temperatures in the area the last couple days. It is also expected to be breezy, with north northwest wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Dispute settled: A long and nasty contract dispute that left at least 280,000 Sutter Health patients worrying they would have to switch health care providers midyear has been resolved, the health care giants announced Friday. But industry experts and patient advocates say the issues raised in the dispute are ongoing.

No Ebola: Two people being evaluated at Sacramento-area hospitals for the Ebola virus have both tested negative, public health officials said Friday.

Motel razed: The owners of the Howe ’Bout Arden shopping center have followed through on plans to raze the Motel 6 where a Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy was killed in October. County officials say a 24,000-square-foot retail building is planned for the site.

Booby trap disabled: The Placer County sheriff’s bomb squad safely disabled a booby trap made from a rat trap, a shotgun shell and fishing line found during a Nevada County Sheriff’s Office search for illegal weapons.

Carnaval today: There will be live samba music and dance at the King and Queen of Carnaval 2015 event at 6 p.m. today at the Brazilian Center for Cultural Exchange, 3313 Julliard Drive, Suite C, in Sacramento. Contestants will compete to be king and queen of the carnaval.

Streak at 8: Cleveland power forward Kevin Love scored 16 of his game-high 23 points in the first quarter to lead the Cavaliers to a 101-90 win over the Sacramento Kings, who have lost a season-high eight games in a row.

Replacing Kobe: The NBA announced Friday that Kings center DeMarcus Cousins is the injury replacement on the Western Conference roster, replacing Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant for the All-Star Game in New York.
