Eppie’s Great Race on parkway
The 43rd anual Eppie’s Great Race, known as “The World’s Oldest Triathlon,” begins at 8 a.m. along the American River Parkway in Rancho Cordova and Sacramento. The race features a 5.82-mile run, a 12.5-mile bike and a 6.10-mile paddle. Sacramento-area restaurateur/entrepreneur Eppie Johnson founded the event in 1974. Anniversary bash for library
The Arden-Dimick Library celebrates its 70th anniversary with a reopening of its refurbished building. The free event takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library, 891 Watt Ave., and features guest speakers, vintage photos, refreshments and entertainment. Open house at Fire Station 10
Station 10 of the Sacramento Fire Department will host a free open house for residents from 2 to 4 p.m. at 5642 66th St. in south Sacramento. Visitors can meet firefighters and medics, tour the station and take a close look at the trucks, engines, ambulances, equipment and gear. The event is part of the Fire Station Open House series
Carmichael concert series continues
The group Latin Touch performs Carmichael’s Concert in the Park series. The free concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Daniel Bishop Memorial Pavilion at Carmichael Park, 5750 Grant Ave. Latin Touch is a dance band consisting of 11 musicians.
