Alcohol restricted on portion of river

The Sacramento County Regional Parks director has issued an alcohol restriction Saturday on the American River from Hazel to Watt avenues in preparation for a non-permitted event – Raftopia. According to a Sacramento County news release, the event is being advertised as having a strong focus on alcohol consumption. The restriction was ordered because of the potential risks to the community, including park visitors, rescue personnel and law enforcement, the county reports.

Deck repairs on Rio Vista Bridge

The state Department of Transportation plans to perform emergency deck repairs from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on the Rio Vista Bridge on Highway 12 between Solano and Sacramento counties. Crews will be making repairs to a bridge expansion joint. One-way traffic controls will be in effect and crews will alternate lane closures in both eastbound and westbound directions to allow one lane on the bridge to remain open during the work, according to Caltrans. Celebrate tomatoes at festival

The Sacratomato Festival is planned from 4 to 8 p.m. outside Sutter’s Fort, 2701 L St., Sacramento. The free event features a salsa-making contest, educational activities, cooking demonstrations and live music. Go to http://exploremidtown.org/ for more information.

Open house at Fire Station 13

Station 13 of the Sacramento Fire Department will host a free open house for residents from 2 to 4 p.m. at 1100 43rd Ave. in the South Land Park area. Visitors can meet firefighters and medics, tour the station and take a close look at the trucks, engines, ambulances, equipment and gear. The event is part of the Fire Station Open House series.

Carmichael concert series continues

The group Todd Morgan and the Emblems performs Carmichael’s Concert in the Park series. The free concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Daniel Bishop Memorial Pavilion at Carmichael Park, 5750 Grant Ave. Latin Touch is a dance band consisting of 11 musicians. ▪ The Nostalgic Cruise of Dreams Car Show, which features pre-1974 automobiles, runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Folsom City Lions Park, 403 Stafford St. The free event features a DJ, two bands, vendors and crafters.
