Morning commute in Carmichael to be affected by downed utility pole

A utility pole in Carmichael was toppled when a car crashed on Marconi Avenue, blocking a portion of the roadway during the early Wednesday morning commute.

The car struck the pole heavily laden with power, cable and telephone lines at about 3:30 a.m. The car was towed away and the injuries to those in the vehicle were determined to be minor, according to the California Highway Patrol traffic website.

The crash required the replacement of the wooden pole, which would mean closure of Marconi at Garfield avenues through the early morning commute.

Sacramento Municipal Utility District reports that 75 customers near the scene of the crash were without power at 6 a.m.
