Circus coming to Sleep Train Arena one final time
Sleep Train Arena came in with a circus and will leave us with a circus.
The arena in North Natomas will host the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus from Sept. 15 to 18 – the final live entertainment performance at the facility. Other events are planned for the arena, including a Sacramento State graduation ceremony in December.
The same circus was the first live touring attraction to play Arco Arena when it opened in 1988, according to a news release from the circus. The company said a “special commemorative event is being planned to honor the legacy of the venue.”
The Ringling Bros. event – “Out of This World” – will be a space-themed performance involving acrobats, astronauts, animals and ice skaters.
This certainly won’t be the last time the circus comes to town.
The operators of Sleep Train’s downtown replacement – Golden 1 Center – announced last week they had agreed to a five-year partnership with Feld Entertainment, Ringling Bros.’ parent company. The company also runs Monster Jam and Disney On Ice.
