Walk with Rancho Cordova mayor

Residents can take part in a morning Mayor’s Walk with Rancho Cordova’s David Sander. The event begins with refreshments at 8:30 a.m., followed by a one-mile walk starting at A.M. Winn Elementary School, 3351 Explorer Drive. Residents also can talk about upcoming projects, ask questions and meet neighbors.

Booze ban on portion of American River

An alcohol restriction has been issued for the American River on Saturday from Hazel to Watt avenues in preparation for the nonpermitted “Raftopia” event. Michael Doane, chief ranger for Sacramento County Regional Parks, said the main concern is public safety. Law enforcement officials from the Rancho Cordova Police Department and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department will be assisting, via foot, motorcycle and personal water crafts to ask for “voluntary compliance” during the one-day event, Doane said. The event is scheduled to launch at 11 a.m. from 11500 S. Bridge St. in Rancho Cordova and continue to River Bend Park at the end of Rod Beaudry Drive.

Open house at Fire Station 16

Station 16 of the Sacramento Fire Department will host a free open house for residents from 2 to 4 p.m. at 7363 24th St. in the Meadowview area. Visitors can meet firefighters and medics, tour the station, and take a close look at the trucks, engines, ambulances, equipment and gear. The event is part of the Fire Station Open House series.

Rosemont Community Celebration

The eighth annual Rosemont Community Celebration, hosted by the Rosemont Community Association, is planned from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rosemont Community Park, 9326 Americana Way, Sacramento. Free food and activities, including pony rides, a trackless train and jump houses, will be offered.

Carmichael concert series continues

Peter Petty and his Titans of Terpsichore perform as part of Carmichael’s Concerts in the Park series. The free concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Daniel Bishop Memorial Pavilion at Carmichael Park, 5750 Grant Ave. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
