Man in 70s shot in Isleton; search for suspect under way

A man in his late 70s was fatally shot in Isleton on Sunday, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

In a news release, department spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Bowman said investigators are still trying to piece together the basics of what happened, but it appears that the man was shot inside his home by a neighbor on the 600 block of Tyler Island Bridge Road. The two men had been involved in a dispute, she said.

The deceased, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, died from his injuries shortly after deputies arrived at his home, Bowman said.

Sheriff’s Department patrols, dogs and a helicopter have been searching the area for the suspect, who had abandoned his truck and “may be hiding in a field,” Bowman said in the release. The suspect had not been located as of 7:45 p.m. Sunday.
