Sacramento fire crews rescue passenger in early morning crash
Sacramento Fire Department crews rescued a passenger after two vehicles reportedly racing on Garden Highway crashed down an embankment and into a ditch.
Fire Department spokesman Chris Harvey said the crash occurred shortly after 2 a.m. between Interstate 5 and Truxel Road in the South Natomas area. The drivers of both vehicles fled before police and firefighters arrived, leaving a passenger trapped in one of the vehicles.
Fire crews extricated the passenger, an adult male. Firefighters on the side of the roadway used lines to help fellow firefighters haul the patient in rescue basket up the steep embankment.
