Victim of Friday accident at south area Goodwill store identified

The Goodwill Industries store employee killed Friday at its Franklin Boulevard outlet has been identified as Abraham Garza, 26, according to a statement from Goodwill.

Garza died after suffering a head injury while working as a spotter to ensure that bins aligned with a trash compactor authorities said.

State officials are investigating Garza’s death, and Goodwill said in a statement that it was offering services to employees affected by the incident.

“We have been working non-stop to provide support and assistance to our employees and are cooperating fully with necessary agencies,” Goodwill’s statement said.
