Sacramento Fire Department officials say a preliminary investigation indicates improper use of a cleaning solvent may have caused a Meadowview-area house fire that injured four people late Tuesday afternoon.
Two adults and two children were taken to UC Davis Medical Center with burns suffered in the fire at a home in the 1900 block of 68th Avenue. Sacramento Fire Department spokesman Roberto Padilla said a neighbor is credited with pulling two of the victims from the fire. Without the neighbor’s actions, Padilla said, the outcome likely would have been much worse.
He said the fire was reported just after 5 p.m. A second alarm was issued, he said, because the first crews on scene were diverted to treating the burn victims.
Padilla said he could not comment on the severity of the injuries or the ages of the children involved.

Fire damage was reported throughout the house, he said. The fire remains under investigation, but Padilla said the cause is believed to have been accidental.
