Roseville school volunteer arrested for alleged inappropriate touching of student

Roseville police have arrested a school volunteer for allegedly inappropriately touching a student.

Officers arrested Leslie John Silva, 70, of Roseville on suspicion of committing a lewd and lascivious act on a child under the age of 14 years old.

Police said they were notified by Cooley Middle School officials on Tuesday that Silva was seen inappropriately touching a student he was acquainted with at the school on Prairie Woods Way.

The alleged touching happened around 3:15 p.m. after school was dismissed and the student walked past Silva’s car, which was parked on school property, according to police. When school officials were notified, they brought the victim into the office until police arrived. Staff also kept on eye on Silva.

Silva is being held in Placer County Jail on $200,000 bail.
