Two people were taken to a hospital with burns suffered in a house fire Wednesday afternoon in Sacramento’s College Greens/Glenbrook area.
The fire in the 2200 block of Wissemann Drive near Belmar Street was reported about 4:15 p.m. Fire crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a single-family home, said Roberto Padilla, Sacramento Fire Department spokesman. During a preliminary search of the residence, firefighters found two people and pulled them out of the house. Padilla said both people had suffered burns and were taken to UC Davis Medical Center. No information was available on the severity of their injuries.
Crews knocked down the fire and no firefighters were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Padilla noted that this is the second house fire within 48 hours in which occupants of the the homes were injured. Four people – two adults and two children – suffered burns in a house fire in the Meadowview area Tuesday afternoon.
