UPDATE: 99 N reopens as CHP investigates body found on highway

California Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a man whose body was found early today on northbound Highway 99 near Florin Road.

It has not been determined how long the body had been on the highway, but it had apparently been hit by one or more vehicles, said CHP spokesman Officer Michael Bradley. The body was badly damaged and was spread along more than 100 feet of the highway, he said, indicating the body may have been dragged.

Shortly after 6 a.m. the CHP received a report of a possible dead animal at that location but, when officers arrived, it was determined to be dead man, Bradley said.

All northbound lanes of the highway were blocked for several hours, backing up traffic to Calvine Road, said Bradley. Some traffic was diverted onto Florin Road.
