Placer County authorities have identified a man killed during a stabbing near Roseville Friday night.
Andrew Michael Petrenko, 21, of Carmichael was walking with friends to a party on Lanie Court around 11:30 p.m when he got into an argument with a group of people in an older white sedan, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said. The driver exited the car, walked up to the victim and stabbed him three or four times
Authorities are still looking for Petrenko’s killer. He is believed to be 18 to 22 years old. Detectives do not believe Petrenko knew him, and the stabbing does not appear to be gang related.
Deputies were called to the home where a party was in progress earlier in the evening on a noise complaint, according to sheriff’s spokeswoman Dena Erwin. As many as 100 people may have attended the party.

Detectives want to talk to the passengers in the suspect’s car because the car’s occupants might not have been aware of the stabbing due to the brief contact between the driver and the victim. The passengers are urged to call the sheriff’s office at (530) 886-5375. Detectives also want to talk to anyone else with information, and they are asked to call the number.
