Third victim in Broadway killings was slashed to death, too
The third victim in a bloody triple homicide that occurred Saturday night died of multiple sharp force injuries, according to the Sacramento Coroner's Office.
Like his brother, 23-year-old Marquise Brown, James R. Ferrell, 20, suffered fatal wounds caused by slashing or cutting, according to Coroner Kimberly Gin. Ferell’s cause of death was released Wednesday afternoon, following completion of an autopsy. The Coroner’s Office previously reported that the men’s grandmother, 68-year-old Christine Lucas, died of multiple stab wounds.
Jerod Watson, 52, has been identified by Sacramento police as a suspect in the slayings, which occurred at an apartment in the 700 block of Broadway. Police said Watson is the ex-boyfriend of Twanna Lucas, the mother of Ferrell and Brown. It was Lucas who discovered the bodies in the apartment Saturday night.
