Sacramento firefighters extinguished a fire Thursday morning that burned the attic of a home in the Valley Hi neighborhood.

The fire began about 5:30 a.m. Thursday in the single-family home in the 7900 block of Whisper Wood Way. The first arriving crews saw flames coming from the roof of the structure.

Firefighters made quick work of putting out the blaze, confining damage to the attic of what the fire department said was an “abandoned” home. Circumstances of the blaze were deemed possibly suspicious.
