A Sacramento man has been sentenced to three years and eight months in state prison for beating a man outside a Davis restaurant.
A Yolo County jury in October found Franklin Sone Wesley, 23, guilty of battery causing serious bodily injury, assault likely to produce great bodily injury and resisting arrest by threats of violence, according to a Yolo County District Attorney’s Office news release. He was sentenced Friday by Yolo Superior Court Judge David Reed.
The attack occurred about 1:40 a.m. May 25, 2013, outside the Ketmoree Thai Restaurant and Bar off G Street in Davis. The victim was standing just outside the front of the bar talking with other people when Wesley attacked him from behind, propelling him through a fence onto the street, authorities said. Witnesses testified that the attack, captured on surveillance footage, was unprovoked.
As the victim lay helpless on the ground in a fetal position, Wesley kicked him in the head 10 to 12 times.

Two good Samaritans attempted to aid the unconscious man, but they were thwarted by Wesley and several of his friends. A second victim also was knocked unconscious by the men who were with Wesley, authorities said.
Both victims recovered and suffered no permanent injuries.
After the attack, Wesley and his group fled. He was later contacted by Davis police near First and E streets. Authorities said Wesley threatened to kill a uniformed officer and had to be restrained.
