A man has been arrested in the shooting deaths of two Carmichael residents in December.

Sacramento County homicide detectives have arrested Jeremy Xavier Ybarra, 35, on suspicion of murder and felony weapon possession.

The homicide victims have been identified as Breeze Hubbard, 37, and Jon Colbert, 49, both of Carmichael.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District firefighters requested that Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies respond to a residence in the 5200 block of Kenneth Avenue at about 7:15 a.m. Dec. 12 for a report of a man who was not breathing in the home.

Deputies arrived and found the bodies of Hubbard and Colbert.

Ybarra was arrested on Feb. 12 for outstanding domestic violence and firearm-related charges in Sacramento, according to a sheriff’s department press release. During his apprehension, detectives found that he had numerous illegal weapons.

Further investigation led detectives to believe that he was responsible for the killings of Hubbard and Colbert.

Detectives believe that Ybarra was acquainted with Hubbard and Colbert but a motive for the killing of the pair is not yet known, according to the release. No other suspects are wanted in the case.

Homicide detectives thanked Carmichael residents and others for their phone calls and tips that helped bring about Ybarra’s arrest.
