A man who was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and resisting officers after Elk Grove police found a teen in an upstairs closet has been released from jail and had his charges dropped.

Elk Grove police declined to discuss the release of Rodney Q. Green on Wednesday from jail and referred inquires to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. A spokeswoman for the District Attorney’s Office said on Thursday that DA officials declined to file charges pending further investigation.

At the request of Solano County Child Protective Services, Elk Grove officers went to a home in the 4600 block of Story Way about 4:45 p.m. Monday to check on the teenage girl. Police said Rodney Q. Green told them he had not seen her for months.

When officers went upstairs, they found the girl in the master bedroom closet. Officers determined that Green had told the girl to get into the closet and had threatened her, according to a police summary.

Police said Green forced the girl into a vehicle when she was walking along a Woodland street several days earlier. The two know each other, police said.
