Overnight work on I-5 in south Sacramento to cause traffic delays

Motorists traveling on southbound Interstate 5 through the south Sacramento area late Thursday night and early Friday morning can expect delays of up to 30 minutes due to road maintenance work.

The work will require closure of up to three southbound lanes as well as the Florin Road off-ramp between 9 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday.

Motorists trying to exit at Florin Road will be detoured to Pocket and Meadowview roads, Exit 512, according to a California Department of Transportation news release. Oversize loads are not permitted.

Crews will be doing demolition and concrete removal work for slab replacement. Motorists are urged to use an alternate route to avoid delays and to allow for extended travel time.
