Q: My friend Willis Moffett was involved in a fatal car accident, in which he was chased and crashed on Fulton Avenue in 2015. Did they ever find out who the driver was and why they chased him?
Ed S., Roseville
A: No arrests have been reported in the death of 59-year-old Willis Moffett Jr. of Citrus Heights, whose car crashed into a light pole after being chased by another vehicle in the Arden Arcade area.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Moffett was southbound on Fulton Avenue in a white Volvo 850, traveling in the left lane, about 2:45 a.m. Jan. 3, 2015. A stolen silver Pontiac Grand Am was reported driving alongside his vehicle at a high rate of speed. The CHP initially reported that there were three people in the Pontiac, but after further investigation, it was determined that the driver, described only as a black man, was the sole occupant.

A witness told officers that it appeared the Volvo was being chased down by the Pontiac. For unknown reasons, the Volvo turned right, in front of the Pontiac, according to the CHP. Both vehicles traveled west, off the road near Michelle Drive. The left side of the Volvo struck the light pole, killing Moffett instantly. The driver of the Pontiac left the scene.
