Sacramento police responded Thursday morning to the Howe Avenue Bridge, where the body of a man killed by gunfire was found in thick brush under the structure.
Police responded to the area in the 7900 block of La Riviera Drive, south of the American River, about 11:15 p.m. Wednesday for reports of shots being fired. When officers searched the area near Howe Avenue and La Riviera Drive, they failed to find anything suspicious.
The department received another call at 10:24 a.m. Thursday when a passerby found a body under the bridge in the general vicinity where the shots had been heard the night before. The dead man had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. His name has not been released.
