A 37-year-old man was injured Tuesday night when he was struck by a vehicle as he was walking across Auburn Boulevard in Citrus Heights, according to police.
Officers were dispatched about 8:25 p.m. to Auburn Boulevard near Rollingwood Boulevard. A preliminary investigation indicated that the pedestrian was walking east across Auburn Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk, according to a Citrus Heights Police Department news release. As he was crossing the northbound lanes, he was struck by a Subaru sedan traveling northbound on Auburn Boulevard.
Police found the pedestrian injured and lying the roadway. The Subaru driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police, the news release said.
The man was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, according to police.
