A 1-year-old Southern California boy was safely recovered Monday evening and his father arrested after authorities issued an Amber Alert when the child was taken from San Pedro.
Authorities said the father, Giovany Santiago-Enriquez, allegedly attacked the child’s mother and her boyfriend before fleeing with the boy. He was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Tijuana, Mexico, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Santiago-Enriquez has legal custody of the child, but the whereabouts of the father and son were not known, according to the news release. Authorities said Santiago-Enriquez had made suicidal threats and attempted suicide, adding that he was considered armed and dangerous.
