The victim in a stabbing at a Meadowview home has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as 65-year-old Vida B. Sarang.

Officers responded to a residence in the 7300 block of 22nd Street about 7:14 a.m. Tuesday regarding a report of an assault. The person who called 911 was later identified as 55-year-old Cresencio Camasura.

Camasura reported the incident to the police dispatch center and indicated he had left the scene, according to a Police Department news release.

When officers arrived, they found the home locked and no one answered the door. Soon afterward, Camasura returned and was detained by police.

Officers forced open the front door and found Sarang inside with stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives were called to assist in the investigation and it was soon discovered that Camasura was related to the victim through marriage.

After being questioned at police headquarters, Camasura was booked into Sacramento County jail on suspicion of murder.
