Folsom police and fire officials are investigating a gas leak near Folsom Lake High School, which briefly prompted a lockdown of the school at 955 Riley St. and resulted in injuries to a utility worker.
Brandi Merlo, a Pacific Gas and Electric Co. spokeswoman, confirmed that a PG&E employee was injured “while performing maintenance work in Folsom today. He has been transported to a nearby hospital.”
Merlo said Monday afternoon that the worker was reported in stable condition.
She said the maintenance work was not related to a cluster of gas leaks caused by a pressurization problem in Folsom in January.

The high school was placed on lockdown around 11:45 a.m. Monday, but the lockdown was lifted about half an hour later.
Merlo said Riley Street between Lembi Drive and East Bidwell Street would remain closed to traffic through the night and possibly into Tuesday morning while crews work to repair the leak.
