The man suspected in Saturday’s fatal shooting in West Sacramento was found dead that night, according to West Sacramento police.
Police sought Andres Cabrales Binion, 19, for the killing of Cruz Abel, 19. Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies were responding to a disturbance at the Denny’s restaurant on Interstate Avenue near I-80 and Madison Avenue when they discovered Binion with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said in a statement.
He was transported to Mercy San Juan hospital, where he died. The 2002 Mitsubishi Galant Binion was reportedly driving after the earlier shooting was also found.
Binion had been wanted for less than 24 hours. Around 1 a.m. Saturday, police received multiple calls from neighbors who heard gunfire in the 1800 block of Merkley Avenue. Responding officers found Abel on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. Abel died at the scene and police issued a warrant for Binion’s arrest Saturday morning. The shooting was West Sacramento’s first homicide this year.
