A school bus hit a power pole in Placer County on Wednesday afternoon, leaving the driver and six students stranded inside until Pacific Gas and Electric Co. crews could arrive to make sure the power was shut off to the downed lines.
California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer David Martinez said the accident occurred about 4 p.m. at Wise and Mount Vernon roads in the Auburn area. He said the driver was traveling on Wise Road and made an unsafe turning movement. The bus went into a ditch and struck a power pole, knocking down power lines.
He said no one on board the bus was injured. They remained inside the bus until utility crews could make sure the downed lines posed no hazard just before 6 p.m.
