West Sacramento police officers assisted a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound Sunday after he drove his vehicle into a tree.
Officers received a call around 2:30 p.m. Sunday about a crash between the 2100 and 2300 blocks of Evergreen Avenue, said department spokesman Sgt. Roger Kinney. Upon arrival, they found a male driver with a gunshot wound in his lower body. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
The man was immediately transported to UC Davis Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, Kinney said. Officers did not receive any reports of gunshots from the area Sunday and do not know where the shooting occurred.
“We’re still trying to locate the crime scene,” Kinney said. “It doesn’t look like he was shot in the car. He may have been shot somewhere else and was driving, lost too much blood and crashed.”
