Loomis-area brush fire under control after prompting evacuations

A vegetation fire in the Loomis area that prompted voluntary evacuations was reported under control shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire started in the area of King and Sugarloaf Mountain roads. The Sheriff’s Office, in a Facebook post, announced about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday that deputies were going door to door notifying residents on Ashley Creek Drive, Helm Lane, Sugarloaf Mountain Road and Boulder Creek Road.

The Sheriff’s Office reminds people who may need to evacuate to take their animals, prescription medications and other essential items in case they are unable to return to their homes for an extended period..
