Two killed in Capital City Freeway crash identified
A man and woman who died Saturday morning when their vehicle struck a guardrail on Capital City Freeway and overturned have been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office as 22-year-old Simone Armendariz of Sacramento and her 24-year-old passenger Alex Gaborek of Elk Grove.
The two were northbound in a 2006 Ford F150 approaching Exposition Boulevard when the vehicle struck the guardrail, according to Officer Chad Hertzell, California Highway Patrol spokesman. The truck continued to travel along the right shoulder of the highway before flipping over and landing on Tribute Road, Hertzell said.
Armendariz and Gaborek were pronounced dead at the scene.
