A man in his late 20s has been taken to UC Davis Medical Center after he was shot late Tuesday afternoon in the Fruitridge area.
Sacramento County sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Lisa Bowman said a deputy was flagged down about 4:21 p.m. by an individual who reported hearing several shots fired in the 4500 block of Roosevelt Avenue. Deputies checked the block and found a black man in his late 20s who was unresponsive.
A witness reported that the victim was out of his vehicle and standing in front of a house when he was shot, possibly by someone driving by in a vehicle. The victim jumped back in his vehicle and attempted to drive away, but hit a fence, Bowman said.
